So excited! We won the monthly Wedding Photo USA contest again! This is the third time. Two times in a row, this month and last, and the end of 2010! Megan and Jason were a great couple from Washington, DC. Aren't they a gorgeous in love couple? This shot was taken outside in the courtyard at Heinz Memorial Chapel where they had their ceremony. After many different photos were taken all over Oakland, like the Cathedral of Learning, plus The Mt Washington Overlook, we went on to The Priory for some great photo's, great food and a great time!

Through all of our travels on the web, when time permits, we like to go to the sites that many brides go to, just to keep us updated on the newest trends, and offerings and ideas.

After spending some time at The Knot website, we have decided to begin advertising with them ourselves. This is just such a great website, actually it's like a little community for brides. Not only is there a multitude of listings for everything you could want or need for your wedding, whether it's cakes or a venue, but there is also so many awesome reads, help articles and suggestions, all to help the bride in organizing a perfect wedding.

I really suggest that all brides sign in with them (it only takes a minute and costs nothing) and take a look around. I really believe that everyone can find something to take away with them.

Just a warning though, The Knot is like potato chips, you can't just eat one, you'll be going back again and again ;o)

PITTSBURGH BOUDOIR PHOTOGRAPHY For His Eyes Only!

Sarah & I had the pleasure of spending time with a very beautiful young woman recently and doing a Boudoir Photo Shoot for her. With this crazy Pittsburgh weather we've been having, this was unbelievably one of the most difficult sessions to complete. We had to reschedule several times because of the crazy snow. Elizabeth got asked to cover another shift at work, and again we had to reschedule. After getting your courage up to do this, it's hard when you have to do it all over again because of rescheduling. Kudos to you Elizabeth!

We always feel we are covered because we have a beast to drive, our Expedition, and if you saw my driveway, you would understand what I mean. (Very steep hill ) Well, the morning of the Boudoir session, more snow of course, got the driveway shoveled and salted, came down it and the Expo decided it didn't want to go I guess, so it wouldn't come out of 4 wheel low. Fortunately, my son came to the rescue and drove us.

I've talked way too much (I always do) so on with some awesome images. Elizabeth allowed us to show you a few of her more modest shots, she's saving the "steamy" ones for the very special and very lucky man in her life.

The image we won with is above, a photo taken of one of our favorite couples whose wedding we shot this year, Alicia & Jordon.

We used a layering technique, in fact, quite a few layers. We then used a vintage frame. The layers were Miabella paper from the Autumn Whisper collection of Leah Profancik as well as the vintage frame. I've been doing quite a few layering effects lately, I try to do at least one in each wedding. There's a few more examples below..

My Secret Pal!

This is non-business related, but I wanted to share a wonderful gesture. Yesterday, I had the nicest surprise, but I must admit it is driving me crazy! I received in the mail this adorable card! No return address, I haven't a clue who sent it, asked all family members, who wished they could take credit for it, but they didn't do it, but whomever did, thank you! It brightened my day! Sometimes, it's the little gestures that mean so much. So, here's a Big Thank you to my "Secret Pal".

Lindsay & Dougs Wedding peeks

Lindsay & Doug's wedding was fun and perfectly planned. We had an engagement session with them a few months ago, and got to know them then. It's always a great idea to get together before the wedding for shots.

We were able to get a lot in, since we went to Oakland and got shots before the ceremony. After the ceremony lots of family shots, then off to the ceremony for fun. Everyone had a wonderful time. Thanks Lindsay & Doug for sharing your day.

Lauren and John were so much fun and such a cute couple! You could tell that they had fun on their special day, and that's the way it should be! It was great that because John is a fireman, they were able to use the firetruck in addition to the limo to get to the reception.

It's obvious that family is important to this couple, as you can see in these shots of Bill's mother and Jenn's father and mother.

It's easy to see where Jenn got her beauty from. I couldn't decide which treatment to use on this shot of her and her beautiful mother.

Jenn was such a beautiful bride, I had a hard time deciding on what treatment to use for this shot also, so I used several!

We had a great time with this couple and wedding party. They were all great! It felt like getting together with family, since we had shot Keri & Matt's wedding not too long ago, and that is where we met Jenn & Bill. As you can see her details were impeccable.

There are so many fun shots, that it was hard to choose fav's for the sneaky peak.

We had the pleasure this fall of photographing Tammy & Sonny's Wedding. They were a fun, beautiful couple. Most wedding locations we have shot at have been very nice, beautiful. ~In the beginning, I knew that she was special. In the beginning, I knew that she was a very special part in my life. In the beginning, I even knew that she would become my friend as well as my daughter. What I didn't know, was that she would also become my business partner. Unlike a lot of photographers and graphic artists, I didn't know that my life was headed this way.

Yes, I have always loved photographs, but who doesn't? I used to take loads and loads of photographs, unfortunately long before Digital was a way of life, but very few of them really were what I was really seeing and wanting to record. Through the years, my photography talent has progressively gotten better, but still never as good as I wanted or needed it to be. My talent is and always will be after the photograph. Working on the photo, using effects to make it the best it can be. Meanwhile, Sarah was maturing, and growing up and becoming a beautiful, talented woman. Somewhere along the way, I realized that she had this eye, this talent for being able to shoot what she could see~ what I was looking for all along. This was when Photography By O'Neil was born.

It's been a long time since wehave had time to post. We finally finished with the Christmas Rush, everything has been ordered and it's time to get back to working on these wonderful Photographs. This was an awesome wedding, very spiritual. Jay is like one of my boys, and I have come to know and Love Christina as well through the years they have been together. Jay was incredibly handsome, and Christina looked absolutely beautiful. Anyway, on to what we're here for, a sneak preview of the photographs.

Senior Photography

I have this exciting new product that I have to talk about. It is called PhotoDuds. I normally don't go for purchasing a lot of different brushes & actions for my PS work, I prefer to make them myself. However, PhotoDuds has made it so easy, I couldn't resist. I was able to add tattoo's to two seniors using PhotoDuds, and that is just a small effect that they offer. The Seniors are happy, they have a tattoo! and Mom & Dad are happy, it's only temp.! I also can't help but to show off some of these two senior's photo's. Ashley is absolutely gorgeous, and Brandon, so very handsome, watch out, the girls are going to go wild, lol.

Norelle & Jesse~Truly in Love~

We had the pleasure of shooting the Wedding for Norelle & Jesse last month. It was a poolside wedding, and although the weather was extremely hot and humid, it was a perfect setting.

The ceramony & reception were held at the Ligoniere Country Inn, and I would highly recommend this Inn for a summer wedding. The rooms were poolside and absolutely beautiful with a warm, country flavor. Norelle & Jesse's families were awesome! They made us feel right at home, one of the family, yet they respected that we had a job to do, and do well.

I don't think I have ever shot a wedding, where the Bride & Groom were more in Love than these two. You could just feel the love between them. The getting ready shots we did with Norelle's mom, dad & Sisters were absolutely beautiful. Highly emotional, Sarah & I were wiping our tears right along with the family. Here is a little taste of this awesome Wedding, enjoy!

Patrick & Sharee's engagement!

My eldest son Patrick is getting married on July 14th to a wonderful woman and the mother of his two babies, Nathaniel & McKenzie. Sarah & I had the pleasure of doing an engagement shoot last week for them at the park where they will be getting married, Monroeville Park. It is an absolutely wonderful park, and a great place for an outdoor wedding. It would also be a great place for senior pictures. Here is just a couple of the photo's, I've been too busy to work on more of them yet, but should have them finished by the middle of next week, ready to send to the printer lab.

Sunday~~~We had the pleasure of sharing the morning with a great family this past Sunday. It was a beautiful morning, although a bit on the chilly side. The closeness of this family was apparent, and I believe we captured it. What beautiful perfect children these three are. Brooke was a bit camera shy, but James more than made up for it, and Paige just went about her little merry business not worrying about us or the camera! Thanks for allowing us to share your morning with you all.

A New Exciting Technique!

I'm so excited! I have learned a new technique! It is adding texture layers to a photograph. It gives the photographs an unusual and unique look and I am really looking forward to trying this on a Wedding photograph in the future. The Photograph of Tom, sitting on the railroad tracks is a very special photograph. It is of my nephew Tom. He passed away a year ago in February, and left an empty space in all of the families hearts. He is truly missed. I have posted the photograph above using a black & white conversion and below is the textured one. I do like the conversion, but the textured one is unique. It has several texture layers added to come up with the end result.

There are also 2 photo's below that I used different texture treatments to get 2 different looks. The great thing about this technique is that they are always different, which makes them so unique.

If you and some close friends have ever wanted some tasteful, intimate or sexy photographs of yourselves, to give to your special someone, but felt uncomfortable going to a studio, why not have a Boudoir Photo-Party

Invite some of your closest friends over for a Party! Usually 6-8 guests works best. During the party, your friends will have their Photo’s taken with no obligation or pressure to purchase anything, all the while enjoying some wine, champagne or a beverage of your choice, some hors d’oeuvre’s, maybe a fruit & chocolate fondue, whatever foods and drink you wish to serve, and you will be able to enjoy conversation and visit with your friends in a non-stressful, party atmosphere. In fact, no purchases will be made at the party. Since the event takes place at your home, everyone is comfortable and at there most natural relaxed selves. Various props will be available to choose from, including seasonal props, or you may prefer to have natural Photo’s taken. Have your guests bring something from home for the shoot, a negligee, a nighty, or perhaps just jeans and a camisole or bustier.

During the party, you and your friends can browse through our assorted portfolio’s to see our various styles and effects. There will also be drawings and door prizes for Free Photo’s and gifts!

We will set up our studio in a separate, private room, and each guest will have their own photo session, with photos taken in several different poses of their choice, with a change of clothing if they desire.

Within approximately one week from the date of the party, the Photo’s will be edited and carefully processed. You as the hostess will contact your guests with the web address and password to their own private, online gallery, where you and your guests will be able to view your own edited Photo proofs. At that time, your guests will be able to order the proofs that they would like, in an assortment of sizes and styles. Please keep in mind, that everything is kept private, no one but the person whose photo was taken, will have access to the proofs unless they decide to give the password to someone else.

You, as the Hostess, will be eligible for free Photo’s, the amount depending on the size of the orders and also for each future booked party. We can even reduce a slight problem area, like the tummy, thighs, or underarms that aren’t quite as toned, as you would like them to be. All at no additional charge. We have many different effects to choose from, for example black & white photos, selective coloring, sepia, High key, and full color to name a few. Again, all at no additional charge.

ABOUT….

ABOUT US……We are a mother-daughter team. We discovered that we both have a passion for Foto-Grafix. A term we like to use to describe how we merge our talents. My daughter Sarah is usually the one behind the camera, capturing the magic, however I have been known to get in a few shots occasionally. I am the one who usually ends up at the computer, adding the effects and enhancements, working more magic.

ABOUT OUR STYLE…. We specialize in on-location photography. This means we have the best of both worlds. Sessions may be at your home or backyard, which is usually the most convenient for newborns, infants, young children and their moms. Breaks are taken as needed, (The baby is the boss), so there are no time limits, however most sessions take 1-2 hours. Sessions can also be at a favorite place of your choosing. A park, a lake, or somewhere that has special meaning to you. (Perhaps where your husband proposed to you)
We take a very relaxed approach in our photo sessions. Both children and adults alike respond much better if they aren’t pressured and they are allowed to be themselves. While we do take some formal poses, we prefer to capture the honesty of real life. We use minimal posing and never take “cheese” photos. Our goal is to capture as much personality as possible. We truly want to create a timeless heirloom that will be treasured throughout the years.
We prefer the simplicity and beauty of natural light portraits. We have worked hard to perfect this skill and can accommodate many lighting situations. Actually, dramatic shadows and occasional film grain are part of our special style. We love the timelessness and beauty of b/w, but also know that some situations warrant bright, vibrant color.

ABOUT YOUR SESSION…… Newborns work best with as little clothing as possible, and if mom or dad is going to be photographed with the newborn, black, long sleeves with no buttons and jeans usually works best. Simple solid color clothing works best for older children. It is best to avoid wearing white. The best rule is … Simple, Simple, Simple. Accessories such as hats, and scarves are encouraged, while logos, busy patterns and cartoon characters can detract from a portrait. We bring an assortment of props, but feel free to bring a favorite toy or something that is special.

ABOUT YOUR PHOTO’S…After the shoot, each photograph will be hand-edited and carefully processed. This is the point when more magic takes place. Black & White, Selective Coloring, High-key, Collages, storyboards, and Fantasy are just a few of the effects that we offer. We also cater to those who have problem areas, such as under eye circles, blemishes, wrinkles, scars, double chins, teeth discolorations, etc., We can minimize these problems, at your request. A slide show can be made using your photo’s and appropriate music and put onto a CD or DVD that can be played on your PC and most DVD players. We are open to all suggestions. If you don’t see something that you would like, just ask, we will be more than happy to work with you.
A link to a private online gallery will be created approximately 7-10 days following the session. Forty to Fifty finished 5X7’s will be presented in a custom gallery online that can be shared with friends and family and will remain active for 2 weeks, during which time orders may be placed by phone, e-mail or at the gallery site. (Orders must be received during this time to redeem any print credits or gift certificates you may have). Prints will be delivered approx. 3-4 weeks after ordering. A $25.00 non-refundable deposit is required when booking a session. Balance of Session fee is due at the time of the session. ½ print fee is due when ordering, and the remaining ½ is due upon receipt of prints.

If dressing up you’re little ones, and dragging them kicking and screaming to The Mall or Department Store Photographer isn’t your idea of fun, read on. If you enjoy getting together with a few good friends in a casual atmosphere, eating, drinking and having a good time, then definitely read on…

Have you ever wondered why you and your children end up crying, are stressed out, and are just plain miserable, when going to the photographer? That’s because they aren’t having FUN! and neither are you! And then, what is it that the Photographer tells your children to do? SMILE! Yep! There’s nothing like a FORCED SMILE!

Now, Picture this..

Invite some friends and children over for a Party! While there, your children and friends children will have their Photo’s taken with no obligation or pressure to purchase anything, all the while enjoying some snacks, playing with friends, and you will be able to enjoy conversation and visit with your friends in a non-stressful, party atmosphere. In fact, no purchases will be made at the party. Since the event takes place at your home, children are comfortable and at their most natural selves. Various props will be available to choose from, including seasonal props, or you may prefer to have natural Photo’s taken outdoors. Feel free to have your guests bring something from home for the shoot, if they desire.

During the party, you and your friends can browse through our assorted portfolio’s to see our various styles and effects, and be sure to check out the additional Photo items we have to offer, such as a slide show, or our unique, one of a kind, Photo-Tile jewelry, just to name a few. There will also be drawings and door prizes for Free Photo’s!

Within approximately one week from the date of the party, the Photo’s will be edited and carefully processed. You will contact your guests with the web address and password to their own private, online gallery, where you and your guests will be able to view your own child’s edited Photo’s. At that time, you and your guests will be able to order the poses that you would like, in an assortment of sizes and styles.

You, as the Hostess, will be eligible for free Photo’s, the amount depending on the size of the orders and also for each future booked party. Your Photo’s will be delivered to you within 2 weeks of placing your order.

Please note: The turnaround time for viewing and printing/delivery is shorter with Photo-Parties than with an actual On-Site Photo Session. There is also NO SITTING FEE charged with our Photo-Parties, which makes your session economical as well as fun!

One of the great advantages of digital photography is the ability to take as many photos as you like, but only print the photos that you choose. Another advantage of digital is that you can easily have any or all of your photos reproduced in Color, Black and white, or sepia. We also are able to do selective coloring (Black & white, with a touch of color here or there), Hi-Key, collages, storyboards, etc as well as make corrections to the photos, such as blemish's, teeth whitening, etc. at your request.

All of our photos included in the packages are printed in a professional photography lab using professional quality luster paper and dye process chemistry.
